• Gov’t approves 25 UN aid workers

ADDIS ABABA – The TPLF junta sellout Tedros Adhanom (Ph.D) made allegation about the possible risk of genocide and humanitarian crisis in Tigray State, However, the allegation has been confirmed baseless by the fruitful visit of officials of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP), said a scholar.
The scholar, Lawrence Freeman, who has a profound experience in Africa’s development policies tweed that there is no genocide in Tigray and the fruitful visit WFP Executive Director David Beasley made in Mekelle affirmed government’s commitment to improve humanitarian situation in the area.
As to Freeman, the WFP official’s appearance in the state capital also showcases government’s readiness to partner with international groups to feed everyone in Tigray thereby preventing starvation.
After visiting activities in Mekelle warehouse, David Beasley tweeted that consolidated activities are being carried out to ensure food supplies in Tigray and currently 20,000 tons of food is being transported to support 1.3 million people.
The executive director further said that now the food is being prepared to distribute across Tigray. “We hope this is the start to addressing all humanitarian needs. Not a single person deserves to go to bed hungry.”
In a related development, the Government of Ethiopia gave the approval to the UN agencies to send 25 more staff members to Tigray in a bid to enhancing the humanitarian response.
UN Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric called the clearance “a first step towards ensuring that aid workers in Tigray can deliver and ramp up the response given the rapidly rising needs in the state”
Dujarric pointed to recent ‘positive engagements’ between the Ethiopian government and senior U.N. officials, including WFP Executive Director David Beasley, who just wrapped up a trip to the East African nation.
According to him, WFP to provide emergency food aid for up to one million people in Tigray.
