Government Says Terrorist TPLF Continues Killing Civilians, Looting Properties And Destroying Infrastructure

Press Secretariat of the Office of the Prime Minister, Billene Syoum has briefed local and international media on latest developments in Ethiopia including the situation in the northern parts of the country.

Billene said the recent visit of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to Turkey took place at a time when the two nations mark 125 anniversary of their diplomatic relationship.

She underlined that the visit was fruitful in paving way for enhancing longstanding ties between the two brotherly countries.

During the visit, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan reaffirmed commitment to support Ethiopia in health, culture, agriculture, science and technology, education, industry development, youth and sports and strengthening trade relations.

The two leaders also expressed commitment to triple the volume of trade between their respective countries.

The two countries have also signed MoU in the field of water and inked other three agreements in military framework agreement, military financial cooperation agreement, and implementation of protocol regarding financial assistance, she said.

The water sector agreement includes planning and implementation of integrated water resources management, hydropower plant development, irrigation and drainage plan and development and conservation of river basin, among others, she explained. The Press Secretariat further called on the international community to denounce continued terrorism of the TPLF group.

She further rejected report by the amnesty international regarding alleged arbitrary apprehension of ethnic Tigrayans in Addis Ababa and other towns.
