German Chancellor Olaf Scholz will pay a two-days working vist Ethiopia next week, Deputy Spokeswoman for the Federal Government of Germany, Christiane Hoffmann, confirmed.
Shared on twitter by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, the official statement from the Office of Press & Information Office of Germany indicates that Chancellor Olaf Scholz will visit Ethiopia from May 4 to 5, 2023.
During his stay in Addis Ababa, Chancellor Scholz is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, President Sahle-Work Zewde, and the head of the Interim Administration of Tigray region, Gatchew Reda, the statement further disclosed.
It is said that the meetings will focus on the progress of the peace process, as well as regional and international security affairs.
He is also expected to meet with the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, and exchange views on the role of the AUC in the area of peacekeeping, cooperation in the areas of trade, food security and the fight against climate change.
After concluding his stay in Ethiopia on Friday, May 5, 2023, Chancellor Scholz will travel to Kenya and meet with President William Ruto, the statement mentioned.
